Another Birthday Bash in the books!

August 30th – September 1st, the Carolina Afghan Hound Club hosted another Kominek Birthday Bash at the farm consisting of 3 days of AKC trials, a couple of parties and a crazy full 800+ yard course of people dressed up as animals. Last year, we ran two courses, but with new costumes, we were able to get everyone into a single run! Contestants were judges on several unique categories and in the end, Jarod Johnson as the gorilla took home the $100 gift certificate. We want to thank all of the runners who were great sports!

The actual dog trials went well, running close to 60 dogs on Saturday as the high for the weekend. Temperatures were bearable in the low 80’s in the mid-afternoon, but we were off the field well before that by 1:00 Saturday and noon on Sunday. Joe Stewart was in attendance this weekend and was kind enough to use his photography skills to take some amazing shots of the hounds and share them on his Flickr.

The next trials at Kominek Farm will be hosted by MAHA and GASM on November 16th and 17th as part of GASM’s mentored trial requirements for full AKC licensing for lure coursing. We look forward to seeing everyone out there that weekend and will have the premium lists up soon.
